A New Year Greeting

"December brings so much to our lives – opportunities that we have come to anticipate with excitement and maybe even a bit of stress. Opportunities for sharing time with people we care about, to make our favorite treats and share them, to reach out to those less fortunate and lend some support. A well-honed tradition as the year draws to its close is the perfect opportunity for reflection. Taking time to intentionally consider what the year has brought and to look ahead to what you’d like to see in the year ahead.

To honor this tradition, our latest issue of eMessages brings back some of the most popular eMessage resources from 2018 along with some new ones to reflect and consider. Best wishes for a happy new year!"

Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) Invites Proposals
The Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) was created with the passage of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) in 1994. OVW provides federal leadership in developing the national capacity to reduce violence against women and administer justice for and strengthen services to victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. OVW currently has several open funding invitations for consideration by providers.

  • OVW: Enhance Culturally Specific Services for Victims of Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, and Stalking
    • The scope of activities for this solicitation includes increasing communities’ capacity to provide culturally specific resources and support for victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking crimes and their families and to enhance traditional services to these victims through the leadership of culturally specific programs offering services.

      Deadline:  February 7, 2019 | Learn More

  • OVW: Sexual Assault Services Culturally Specific Program
    • The intention of this program is to provide critical services to victims of sexual assault that are culturally relevant and linguistically responsible for specific populations. A priority in this announcement is to increase the response to victims of sex trafficking or other severe forms of trafficking in persons who have also experienced sexual assault (hereinafter “sex or labor trafficking”). Projects addressing this priority area must identify how they will engage in outreach to victims of sex or labor trafficking and tailor services to address the unique needs of these victims, including collaborating with mental health and substance abuse professionals as non-funded project partners.

  • OVW: Transitional Housing Assistance Grants for Victims of Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, and Stalking
    • Funds are now available to address transitional housing assistance through a range of activities including transitional housing, short-term housing assistance, and support services for victims and their dependents who are fleeing a situation of sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, or stalking to locate and secure permanent housing, secure employment, and integrate into a community.

  • OVW: Outreach and Services to Underserved Populations
    • Funds are available to support outreach to and services for individuals in underserved populations who are survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking.
