Youth Homelessness System Improvement (YHSI) Grants: Funding Announcement Review

On December 11, 2023, Youth Collaboratory and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) hosted a funding announcement webinar exploring the new Youth Homelessness System Improvement (YHSI) funding opportunity. 

The webinar discussed ways this funding supports communities looking to improve or create new equity-focused response systems that:

• create and build capacity for Youth Action Boards; 
• collect and use data on youth currently experiencing or at-risk of experiencing homelessness; 
• develop strong leaders within a community; and 
• improve the coordination, communication, operation, and administration of homeless assistance projects to better serve youth, including prevention and diversion strategies.

Participants learned how YSHI is different from past HUD youth homelessness funding, details about funding levels for various proposed activities, and specifics on the required application materials.
