Here are some of the upcoming funding opportunities for April 2017:
DoL Invites Applications to Support Successful Transition from Justice System The Employment and Training Administration (ETA) announces the availability of approximately $66 million in grant funds to serve either adults (ages 25 or older), or young adults (ages 18-24) who have been involved in the justice system make successful transitions back to the community. All projects must be located in high-poverty, high-crime communities. Labeled as “Reentry Projects (RP): FOA-ETA-17-02”, ETA anticipates awarding up to $4,500,000 each to approximately eight (8) intermediary organizations, approximately three (3) proposing to serve adults and approximately five (5) proposing to serve young adults. ETA also plans to award up to $1,500,000 each to approximately twenty (20) CBOs, approximately thirteen (13) proposing to serve adults and approximately seven (7) proposing to serve young adults. YouthBuild 2017: FOA-ETA-17-03
The Employment and Training Administration announces the availability of approximately $80 million in grant funds for YouthBuild. WIOA further engages the YouthBuild program by making it a required One-Stop partner, providing the opportunity for YouthBuild to share its expertise in serving out-of-school youth. In Fiscal Year (FY) 2017, DOL hopes to award approximately 80 projects across the country. Individual grants will range from $700,000 to $1.1 million and require an exact 25 percent match from applicants, using sources other than federal funding. NOTE: Grantees who received funding from the FY 2016 YouthBuild competition [FOA-ETA-16-10] are funded through mid-February 2020, and these grantees (based on their unique Employer Identification Numbers) are not eligible to participate in this competition. Vision 21: Linking Systems of Care for Children and Youth State Demonstration Project
Eligible applicants are limited to public agencies, state agencies, federally recognized Indian tribal governments (as determined by the Secretary of the Interior), and units of local government. Units of government may partner as co-applicants, when necessary, to achieve the goals of this solicitation; however, a lead agency must be identified. Lead applicants must partner with a collaborative body/network of stakeholders that includes representatives of state government, victim services, law enforcement, health services (physical, mental, and behavioral), juvenile justice, courts, judges, educators, and other state, tribal, and local entities. Partners should collectively have expertise in victim services (including victim compensation), child and youth victimization, child welfare, juvenile justice, law enforcement, mental health, law (as it pertains to this population), information technology, and other key components identified by the applicant. OVC may elect to fund applications submitted under this FY 2017 solicitation in future fiscal years, dependent on, among other considerations, the merit of the applications and on the availability of appropriations. Best Buy Invites Proposals to Support Youth Access to 21st Century Technology As technology becomes more ingrained in our society, Best Buy knows it is increasingly necessary for youth to develop the 21st-century skills that will set them up for future career success. Yet, a participation gap exists. Too many teens have little or no access to technology and, as a result, they fall behind their peers. The Best Buy Foundation will donate Community Grants to local and regional nonprofit organizations that provide teens with places and opportunities to develop 21st century technology skills that will inspire future education and career choices.
