"Stay Home"

“Stay Home”
But no one in my home wants me there
“Stay Home”
But I don’t have a home to stay in
“Stay Home”
But home is where they hurt me.

Exposed is our privilege
and with it a broken system
Stripped down to our bones
and we watch them through our windows begin to bleach in the sun
Whitewashed with the lack of priority in diversity

Inequity
Inconsistency
The choice not to care.

Now there are millions for the unemployed?
Yet the woman on the corner continues to receive nothing
Cars pass her by, out for a daily drive going absolutely nowhere.

So, please don’t ask me to stay home when that’s the worst place I could be right now
Please don’t ask me to stay home when that’s not even a choice I get to make
Please don’t ask me to stay home when that isn’t a safe place for me to be.

PLEASE, don’t ask me to stay home if you’re not going to listen to what that means for me.
