Senate Appropriations Considers FY18 HUD Funding

This week the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee released some details on their Fiscal Year (FY) 2018 HUD funding levels. While these numbers are not final, they do represent the starting point in the Senate. A few notable highlights include:

  • $73 million increase to $2.456 billion for McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Grants
  • $1.07 billion increase to $21.365 billion for Tenant-Based (Section 8) Housing Choice Vouchers
  • $3.6 million for the operation of the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness (USICH), and an elimination of the agency’s sunset date.
