HHS Invites Applications to Provide Crisis Support Including Temporary Shelter for Runaway and Homeless Youth

Through the Basic Center Program, HHS, ACF, ACYF Family and Youth Services Bureau works to establish or strengthen community programs to meet the emergency needs of youth under age 18 who have runaway, have been forced to leave home, or other homeless youth who might end up being involved in public systems such as juvenile justice and child welfare. OJJDP Invites Applications for 2018 Mentoring Opportunities for Youth Initiative

As part of its overall strategy to support mentoring as a key strategy in decreasing youth involvement with the juvenile justice system, the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) invites proposals for a number of mentoring program opportunities, including those with a specialized focus on youth already involved in juvenile justice and youth impacted by opioids. Department of Labor’s Education and Training Administration Invites YouthBuild Applications

DOL will award grants through a competitive process to organizations providing pre-apprenticeship services that support education, occupational skills training, and employment services to at-risk youth, ages 16 to 24, while performing meaningful work and service to their communities. In addition to construction skills training, YouthBuild applicants may include occupational skills training in other in-demand industries. This expansion into additional in-demand industries is the Construction Plus component, a priority in this grant competition. HHS ACF Invites Applications to Operate Street Outreach Programs

The Administration for Children and Families, Administration on Children, Youth and Families’ Family and Youth Services Bureau (FYSB) announces the availability of funds under the Street Outreach Program (SOP). SOPs work to increase young people’s personal safety, social and emotional well-being, self-sufficiency, and to help them build permanent connections with families, communities, schools, and other positive social networks. These services, which are provided in areas where street youth congregate, are designed to assist such youth in making healthy choices and to provide them access to shelter and services which include: outreach, gateway services, screening and assessment, harm reduction, access to emergency shelter, crisis stabilization, drop-in centers, which can be optional, and linkages/referrals to services.
