Lawrence Foundation

This new and evolving foundation awards both program and operating support grants with no geographic restrictions to nonprofit organizations. Initially their mission had a broad focus but their giving is becoming more narrowly focused. Grants now tend towards supporting environmental and human services and other causes. Initial grants were generally unsolicited one year program grants but they are moving towards making more multi-year program and operating grants. Read more »  

Finish Line Youth Foundation Programmatic Grants

Finish Line Youth Foundation directs funding to organizations in communities where Finish Line employees live and work that provide opportunities for youth participation in the following areas: youth athletic programs, community-based programs addressing active lifestyle and team-building skills, and established camps with an emphasis on sports and active lifestyle, especially programs serving disadvantaged and special needs children. The foundation is particularly interested in organizations providing opportunities for participation of children and young adults age 18 and under and organizations whose activities provide direct services to individuals and produce tangible results. Walton Family Foundation Announces 'Building Equity Initiative'

The Walton Family Foundation has announced a $250 million initiative to help charter schools access the capital needed to build and expand their facilities. The Building Equity Initiative will provide low-interest loans to national and regional not-for-profit lenders to provide high-quality charter schools with financing to create or expand existing facilities. To be managed by Civic Builders, a nonprofit charter facilities developer, the initiative also aims to create a bigger network of real estate experts, lenders, financiers, and technical assistance providers that charter schools can turn to when looking to expand.
