Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month 2019

Along with Black History Month, February also marks Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month 2019. The theme for this year's Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month is "Huddle Up for Healthy Relationships," which includes a helpful toolkit for providers and the public to raise awareness of teen dating violence.

This very serious issue affects youth around the country. Consider that:

  • One in three teens in the U.S. will experience physical, sexual or emotional abuse by someone they are in a relationship with before they become adults. (Source: loveisrespect.org)
  • Nearly half (43%) of dating college women report experiencing violent and abusive dating behaviors. (Source: loveisrespect.org)

In light of these alarming facts, every year during the month of February advocates join efforts to raise awareness about dating violence, highlight promising practices, and encourage communities to get involved as part of Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month.
