Boldly going where no funder has gone before: Moving philanthropy from banker to backer.
If nonprofits are truly going to move the needle, and solve major problems, philanthropy will have to move beyond the traditional model of time limited funding for a specific program. Anne shares how funders supporting community visioning become partners in the trial and error process of true change.
About Ann
Anne Miskey is executive director of Funders Together to End Homelessness, a national network of funders supporting strategic, innovative, and effective solutions to homelessness. And while it has been said that program officers with a check book are instantly more attractive than civilians, and their jokes are instantly funnier, Anne is a passionate proponent for the need for philanthropy to earn that adulation by becoming a fearless and innovative catalyst in creating long term, positive change. Her more than 25 years working in both the corporate and non-profit sectors has given her a unique perspective that has made hers a national voice on the role philanthropy can play in effecting and supporting a systems approach to ending major social problems.
About Connection
Connection isn’t just an event, it’s an experience. Each year the Connection event brings together thought leaders from the youth service field to make unexpected connections that break through the status quo. A refreshing line up of brilliant speakers challenge practice-as-usual and provide participants with the opportunity to learn about and discuss key issues in a relaxed, creative atmosphere. Our innovative format means that you don’t just listen to thought-provoking presentations and fresh ideas, you have the chance to discuss and build upon them. Our broad, multi-sector network means that you can expect the opportunity to talk with familiar colleagues, reconnect where you may have lost touch, and get connected with those outside your network. Even our nontraditional space provides inspiration to move, think, and speak freely. Want to help move the needle on the big problems?
