By now, you've probably heard of Connection 2015. Maybe you were at Connection 2014 or you've been around the block and word on the street is that THIS is the gathering you shouldn't miss. On September 2, 2015, youth leaders from around the country will come together at the Painted Bride Art Center in Philadelphia to think, connect, and inspire. Whether you have already registered or you are on the fence about joining us this year in Philadelphia, here are a few things that you should start doing now to prepare for Connection 2015:

1. Brush up on your Philadelphia history.

What better place to look forward to the future of the youth services field than in the city of Brotherly Love? Did you know that Philadelphia considers itself home to the first historically black college in America and that Cheyney University became a home in Philadelphia for the civil rights movement? Or that present-day Philadelphia finds itself as home to The Monkey and The Elephant, a coffee shop run for and by former foster-care youth? With a history like that, we can't think of a better place to gather this year.

2. Make a list of big questions.

We are called to be bring the best and most effective services and support to the youth we serve. But how do we do that in a reality that forces us each day to pick between competing priorities and limited resources?  We've selected a group of fantastic speakers this year who will share their ideas on how to authentically engage with youth, with funders, with policy makers, and how each of us can be a part of making systemic change. So dream big and come ready to ask and discuss those tough questions.

3. Book your hotel room.

Right around the corner from the Painted Bride Art Center is the Hotel Monaco, a boutique hotel that is ready for you to come and gather in a fun and relaxed environment. Whether you want to do yoga in your room to start the day, need a goldfish to keep you company while you travel, or just want a fun place to grab a drink and continue the conversations you've started, the staff at the Hotel Monaco are ready for you! But act fast, the discounted rate will only last through August 3rd.

4. Pack your business cards (and a notebook).

With folks coming from all over the country and from so many different youth service fields, Connection 2015 is the perfect opportunity to meet new people, reconnect with old friends, and share your ideas and your challenges. In between speakers, we have intentionally scheduled break time that is designed to excite and delight, and give you a chance to really talk with the speakers and other attendees.

5. Watch last year's speakers and get ready to be inspired.

Connection 2014 in Baltimore brought together a diverse group of speakers who challenged us to rethink how we view the youth we serve, their development, and each other. Each of those talks were recorded and are available on our YouTube channel. Spend some time watching these and get excited for what's to come this year!

6. Bring your appetite.

Soft pretzels, cheese steaks, food trucks, happy hours, and receptions. All the thinking and talking will leave you hungry and no one wants a hungry youth worker! We are working with some of the best food vendors in the Old City area to bring you breaks and treats that will inspire and sustain you. And don't worry, we've got some great gluten-free and vegetarian treats as well.
